Watchmen trailer three.

We knew it was coming, I waited on Yahoo for the moment it aired. Warner bros has released the third trailer for Zack Snyders adaptation of Watchmen and things are looking great.

This trailer is a huge leap forward for me. Sure I'm still unsure about the film, it can never be the book, but I was really impressed with the trailer. The way the film looks, the texture the feel of the city and environments from what we have seen, all fit the way I imagine Watchmen to be. Rorschach's voice was great but a bit exaggerated as you cant see his mouth so it comes across as if its a voice over. The city look dark, and I loved the 80's advertising on Main Street. I never thought Doctor Manhattan would sound simply like a man, but hearing him speak made me think at heart, he is still a human being and therefore his lines may carry more emotion because you relate to his voice more.

Also Rorschach refers to the group of heroes as "Watchmen" something that the books never does. This is most likely to allow the audience to identify with them easier.

Watchmen hits theaters on March 6th 2009.

Bruce Willis HSM3

Bruce Willis
appeared on Letterman promoting his new film, High School Musical 3. Looks as if Bruce has a pretty big part in the film, maybe the beginning of a musical career?

Take a look.

Double the Doctor.

Here are the first two minutes of the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Special which aired as part of the BBC'S Children In Need charity night. The Clip looks great, I'm not much of a fan of the Christmas Specials, I tend to think the show works better in half hour format - Never the less, I think It looks great, I love the idea of two Doctors and the possible out comes or reasons for it.

Looks like a model? New USS Enterprise revealed.

Entertainment Weekly
has the first look at JJ Abrams new redesign of the USS Enterprise for the upcoming Star Trek film released on may 8th 2009

Abrams said he wanted to take the design from the television series and the films, fusing them together, in an attempt to create something fresh, yet also feel familiar.

Abrams explains “If you’re going to do Star Trek there are many things you cannot change. The Enterprise is a visual touchstone for so many people. So if you’re going to do the Enterprise, it better look like the Enterprise, because otherwise, what are you doing?”

Akira goes to America.

I have been saying it for you years, and now it looks to be coming true. Hollywood got it’s hands on what ever comic book title they could in hopes to make a movie, now it looks like they are moving east, to buy up all the anime they can to. It was announced awhile back that Akira, the popular manga by Katsuhiro Otomo which eventually became an animated film, is been giving an Americanized live action treatment headed by Leonardo DiCaprio.

Akira has been picked up by Warner bros., in which DiCaprio will produce, it has also been stated that Ninja Scroll, another popular anime film will also be making its way to the big screen, again. Gary Whitta is to write the script, and there’s even rumors that Joseph Gordon Levitt will play the role of Tetsuo. So far we have seen titles like Speed racer and Dragon ball lend its self to a live action make overs, both been criticized for there treatment of the source material.

“We’re waiting for the final draft of the script [for 'Akira'],” DiCaprio told MTV. “I’m a big fan of Japanese anime — that and another project called ‘Ninja Scroll’ we’re trying to get developed and made into a movie, and I know there a lot of loyal fans out there of the project and die-hard fans, so we’re going to try to do the best job we possibly can and we’re not going to make the movie until the script is in the right shape.”

Leonardo DiCaprio
has said that he has No intention of acting in either films and will stick exclusively to producing. If they capture the key aspects or ideas of these stories, I think, as it’s own entity, they may be enjoyable, but I do not think Hollywood can delivery the intensity or experience these film hold, especially when trying to reach wide audience. At this stage Akira is set for a summer 2009 release.

Last week I posted the trailer for what I think looks like a great Cg animated film, Monsters vs. Aliens.

Wired brings us a new behind the scene feature which showcases there use of cameras in 3d space to control the films action. The film is apparently been created to be shown in full 3d, which we get glimpse of towards the end of the clip.

I still think this film looks really cool, I'm a fan of B-grade movies and animation, but never seem to be to impressed by much CGI and what it achieves - given what it can. Havig said that, take alook at all the human character within the trailer. Noyice how they are all uncik, all indeivialul looking? When Disney occupied the 2d industry they were nothing but realitic and limiting, we see the same problems with Pixa film too. CG is timly and expensive, there for character models are built and then twecked to create othr miner characters, we see this in The Incredibles. Monster vs Aleins dosent seem to have taken the route

Dragon Ball WTF!

Yes, what you see in front of you is real. As far as we know, its an image from the upcoming live action adaption of Dragon Ball. I don't think I have read any positive interest it this film that isn't from hyper take what you get fan boys. It makes you wonder what Fox is really trying to archive with this picture.

Isn't the point of buying a franchise, to ultimately make a film, done because its "safe" already having fan base and thus eliminating having to think. So my question is, from what we have seen so far, why is it so horribly displeasing. What is the point of getting the rights to something, only to make so may drastic changes?

In retrospect it still is really to early to judge this film. With only a leaked promotional trailer floating around, said to not be an official trailer, but merely marketing footage. The film is going to be heavy on CGI, which is what will be needed in almost any scenes designed to impress us. Lets hope what we know and love about Dragon ball still remains, although after the image above, i wouldn't count on it.

The 12 Dumbest Spider-Man Stories Ever.

Alicia Ashby over at Topless Robot has posted an article tittle The 12 Dumbest Spider-Man Stories Ever (Besides the Clone Saga)

"Fair warning: if your idea of a bad Spider-man story is when he fights a silly villain like the Hypno-Hustler, then the shit on this list is going to set your eyebrows on fire. This is a hardcore, no-holds-barred look at the absolute worst of the worst of Spider-man, and as you’ll see, the ‘80s and ‘90s and beyond let Spider-man comics get pretty motherfucking terrible. For all that Spider-man is one of the world’s most popular superheroes thanks to his combination of cool powers and everyday problems, a really bad Spider-man story is about as bad as superhero comics can get (well, until Chuck Austen is writing them). Be forewarned and forearmed with knowledge to avoid accidentally trying to read shit that will never, ever entertain you in a non-ironic way."

Take a look.

New Trailer For Joss Whedon's Dollhouse.

I don't watch much Tv. I don't know whether its because I don't have the time or because I just don't think their is anything really that good on. Besides Id rather be watching a movie. A new Trailer For Joss Whedon's Dollhouse has landed on the internet thanks to Fox. I don't really care for this and Ill probably never watch it, but its Joss Whedon and its new so who knows.

Joss Whedon, creator of groundbreaking cult favorites "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Firefly," returns to television and reunites with fellow "Buffy" alumna Eliza Dushku for a thrilling new drama, DOLLHOUSE.

ECHO (Dushku) is an "Active," a member of a highly illegal and underground group of individuals who have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas. Hired by the wealthy, powerful and connected, the Actives don't just perform their hired roles, they wholly become - with mind, personality and physiology - whomever the client wants or needs them to be. Whether imprinted to be a lover, an assassin, a corporate negotiator or a best friend, the Actives know no other life than the specific engagements they are in at that time.

Confined between missions to a secret facility known as the "Dollhouse," Echo and the other Actives including SIERRA (Dichen Lachman) and VICTOR (Enver Gjokaj) are assigned engagements by ADELLE (Olivia Williams), one of the Dollhouse leaders. After each scenario, Echo, always under the watchful eye of her handler BOYD (Harry Lennix), returns to the mysterious Dollhouse where her thoughts, feelings, experiences and knowledge are erased by TOPHER (Fran Kranz), the Dollhouse's genius programmer.

Echo enters the next scenario with no memory of before. Or does she?

As the series progresses, FBI Agent PAUL BALLARD (Tahmoh Penikett) pieces together clues that lead him closer to the Dollhouse, while Echo stops forgetting, her memories begin to return and she slowly pieces together her mysterious past.

Inevitably what Akira will become.

I watched this the other day, completely missed the point. I have watched it again and this time thought more about the film and that it may be getting reworked in to a live action film - an American live action film. You will get what I mean, take a look.

I love Akira, its one of the first Anime films I ever saw and I was blown away by how detailed it was, its ideas and how well its still holds up against Anime pictures been created today. I recently got to see a film print of the original dubbed version, it wasn't that fun but the more I think about it the more the voices feel like this cartoon. The print came of cheesy and i worried that people watching it for the first time may now have a miss conception of it.

Yes Man Movie Trailer 2

If you are a fan of Jim Carrey, you know longer see him as just a funny man. Warner Bros has just released the second theatrical trailer for his new comedy Yes Man. Its fair to day Jim Carrey hasn't made a funny movie this century. Bruce Almighty was mediocre at best and Fun with Dick and Jane a remake of the 1977 classic is, well, a remake.

He has since then moved on to show exceptional talent in more serious rolls. Eternal Sunshine, The Truman show, Man On The Moon and the Majestic all within the last ten years shows that he is more veritable than just character acting.

Im always skeptical about a new Jim Carrey comedy, but i have to say this doesn't look half bad. I like that he's keeping his age, he looks similar to the way he did in Liar Liar, its got his trade mark but maybe a bit out of date voices and facial expressions and hes playing the loser as he seems to do a lot - in fact taking a look at all the films i know him for, his characters are always huge losers.

Trailer over at Yahoo.

Yes Man hits theaters on December 19th 2008.

futurama on anti-piracy

Futurama's take on those annoying anti-piracy adds you see on DVDs. One thing I have always thought is what if you answered yes to these questions? Would you steal a car? If you answer yes, does this means its OK to pirate movies?

I dont think this is the adds intentions but it does make light of the point.

Enjoy.

5 Minute The Day The Earth Stood Still Trailer

This week a 5-minute trailer for the remake of the 1951 Sci Fi classic The Day The Earth Stood Still was released. The original tells the story tells the story of a humanoid alien visitor who comes to Earth to warn its leaders to curtail their conflicts or face devastating consequences. This new version stars Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly and something about the earth dying and our cities fading to dust.

I always think when a special "long" trailer for any film is released its because the studio distributing it knows that its not going to be a big hit unless enough of it is in peoples minds. A trailer is how a film marketed; therefore we are going to see the films basic ideas and a peek at some of the highlights such as action sequences. This is my point, this trailer showed what I imagine to be every action sequence in the film. We even got to see the new Gort, which I imagine, would be at the font of the movies action or left till the films climax. It really seems they went all out. Am I alone in thinking it look horrible? What’s it point? An alien who looks like Keanu Reeves comes to earth along with a giant robot that looks like a man in skintight spandex and giant city destroying balls!

You know instantly by looking at this that it takes its self-way to seriously, the characters are basically cartoons and everything they have to say is just so shocking. This version seems to be taking its self more seriously in terms of realism and modern day treats in an attempt to shred its self of anything people may have found cheesy about the original – if you watched, you can see they really nailed it. “It would only frighten you” as if watching you performance inst bad enough Keanu.

All said and done the trailer didn’t show exactly everything! We are still yet to see a shot of Jennifer Connelly breast, as she appears naked in a lot of her films. That to me seems like a more plausible tactic in terms of marketing than spending over a hundred million dollars on CGI.

The Day The Earth Stood Still opens Boxing Day.

TF 2 Soundwave and Ravage?

Hear is what at this stage is unconfirmed transformers 2 concept art displaying both Ravage and Soundwave. You can make up your mind weather its fake or not? Keep in mind Roberto Orci (TF writer) already said that Soundwave's alt mode is not a truck. Having said that Bay has stated many times that the production team inst releasing anything regarding the film until closer to its release date, and that allot of "leaked" information could in fact be posted by people involved with the film to trip you up.

Is it fair to say know one expected the robots in the transformers movie to look the way they did. When ever I see concept art for this movie I judge it on what we now know the transformers to look like, because lets face it, know matter how much people cry there never going to look even slights G1. I think Soundwave its always going to be at the centre of controversy when it comes to live action. He is a hugely loved characters and somewhat iconic and what helps fuel this controversy is his appearance, both alt mode and robot mode.

Soundwave transforms into a tape deck from a 30tf robot. This was always going to change, but what makes it hard is keeping some if his visual traits intact for the live action adaptation, which I think is virtually impossible. All that really matters in regards to soundwaves character is his persona and his loyalty to Megatron and of course his electronic voice. Get that down and that’s all he will need and I think that’s all he is going to be able to deliver.

If this concept art is real then I really like it. I can’t in the world imagine how he would ever look in live action. I don’t think he will be a truck as it seems to close to Ironhide and that’s going to confuse people. What i think is the coolest idea yet is Soundwave as a satellite. His Cybertron mode in the cartoon was something simular and he’s a tape deck on earth, he listens and waits. It would be cool if he had been there all along, above the earth watching over Megatron after following him to earth.

As for ravage, well imagine that thing chasing down humans, lets hope its real.

Justice is dying in your dressing robe.

Today we see the first of the official Watchmen teaser posters. It shows an image of an event which happens at the beginning of the graphic novel in which the Comedian is murdered and pushed out the window of his apartment building. It’s an OK poster I guess? But are people really going to know what all this watchmen stuff is all about. I mean when you go to the movies you see teaser posters of iconic things like super heroes or remakes, things that most of the general public are already associated with.

Don’t get me wrong many of the images in the graphic novel are certainly iconic, I just don’t think your average person would have a clue what a Watchmen is. The poster is pretty much fan service at this stage and it will be interesting to see what other follow up until a theatrical poster. It would be fair to say, as soon as this movie hits the smiley face will be as well known as the bat symbol.
